The short version: this site counts visits with Google Analytics. Vidfiddle, the app, runs on your own server and sends us nothing.

Who runs this site

vidfiddle.com is run by Zellerhaus Holding Co. in Phoenix, Arizona (“we”). Questions about this policy go to [email protected].

What this site collects

The live site loads Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager. It records:

  • the pages you view and the site that sent you here
  • your browser, device, screen size and language
  • your rough location (city and country), worked out from your IP address
  • a few clicks we count on purpose: links to GitHub, opening the demo video, copying the setup commands, and turning over a style card

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies, named _ga and _ga_ plus an ID, so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. They last up to two years.

A banner asks whether you allow these cookies. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they stay off until you click Allow; Google works out where you are from your IP address. Until then, Google Analytics gets only pings without cookies, which can’t link one visit to the next. Everywhere else the cookies are on unless you click Decline.

We use these numbers to see how many people visit and which links they follow. We don’t run ads here, we don’t sell data, and we don’t try to work out who you are. Google handles this data under its own terms; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Hosting

Vercel hosts the site and Cloudflare sits in front of it. Like any web host, they handle your IP address and keep request logs to serve pages and keep out abuse. See the privacy policies of Vercel and Cloudflare.

What we don’t collect

There are no accounts, forms or newsletter on this site. If you email us, we get your address and your message, and we use them to reply.

Vidfiddle, the app

Vidfiddle runs on your own server, and it doesn’t report anything back to us. There’s no telemetry, no account with us and no license check.

It does send your content to the services you connect, using your own keys: OpenAI or Anthropic for scripts and captions, OpenAI and (if you choose) ElevenLabs for the video engine, Creatify if you use it, your storage provider, and Publer, Postiz or TryPost for scheduling. Each of them handles your data under its own terms. Because you run the app, you decide what goes into it and you’re responsible for it, including any personal data in the posts you turn into videos.

If you star the repo, open an issue or join a discussion, that happens on GitHub, under GitHub’s privacy statement.

Your choices

To change your answer, use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. Declining also deletes the _ga cookies this site already set. We keep your answer in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) so we don’t ask again.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at [email protected]. Depending on where you live (the EU, the UK or California, for example), the law may give you more rights, such as getting a copy of your data or objecting to how it’s used. Write to us and we’ll answer within 30 days.

Children

This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
